Saturday June 5th, 2010 (rain or shine) is the date of the 6th Annual Holy Smokes BBQ Contest and Parish Dinner. We are planning on a great afternoon of Family, Friendship, Blues music & BBQ.
We are expecting anywhere from 30 to 40 competing Teams, and from 300 to 500 friends & family on Saturday afternoon!!! What a great Day for all the friends & families at Cure’of Ars! This year’s contest will include 5 meat categories; everyone’s favorite ribs, pork (butt or tenderloin), sausage & brisket and miscellaneous. Teams will prepare their entries to be judged, while the Holy Smokes pitmasters cook the meat to be served at the parish dinner. There is also the Blue Ribbon Bake-Off with multiple categories of pastries and desserts being judged and served as desert for the BBQ dinner.
The weekend kicks off with Team Setup on Friday night – most teams have a party Friday night entertaining family, friends and parishioners. Saturday they get down do business cooking for the competition. There will be live music Friday evening.
We are encouraging a family atmosphere during the day Saturday and an adult atmosphere Saturday evening. Between noon and 2:00 o’clock we will have a free hot dog hour for all the kids and contestants. This has been a great hit along with the Leawood Fire Truck. There will be live music Saturday afternoon and evening.
The cafeteria doors for our Parish guests will open at 5:30pm Saturday evening. At approximately 7:00pm, we will announce the contest results in the cafeteria and hand out trophies.

We were blessed with great weather again - excellent turnout and great cooking.
Judges report this years quality was best ever - especially the brisket and ribs!
